Talking about myself is surely the hardest task anyone could give me, but I think it is important to introduce myself so that you know who you are about to entrust with two fundamentally precious things: your time and your body.
In 1997 I discovered a magnificent fighting style in a video game (Tekken 3) on the PlayStation 1. But it was still just fiction to me until the film « Only the Strong » was shown on television that same year. That is when I realised this « martial art » really existed. As soon as the new school year began, I rushed to the nearest school with my brother, and the adventure began.
The schools were packed. Only much later did we realise that it was the golden age of capoeira in France. Unfortunately I wasn’t gifted – certainly much less than on the PlayStation – and all my classmates were far better. But none of that mattered: I was having fun and I loved the feeling of learning something new every day. I wasn’t only passionate about capoeira, but also about learning itself. My gaps and difficulties became opportunities to learn, and I have kept that mindset to this day.
Through dedication, hard work and perseverance, I had the immense honour of receiving the title of instrutor in 2006, which opened the doors of teaching to me. My professor was already giving me many opportunities to teach, which allowed me to build my own teaching approach and gain solid experience.
In 2009 I was able to open my first school, to create my own capoeira family and keep learning all together. I develop my work in harmony with my values, and I am lucky to have a wonderful team supporting me throughout the year. Today, several teachers give classes in Paris, and we have 5 schools in the heart of the capital, passing on our art with passion.
